The DINI/nestor-AG Forschungsdaten is a collaborative working group (WG) established in 2014 by the Deutsche Initiative für Netzwerkinformation e.V. (DINI) and nestor, the German Competence Network for Digital Preservation. This group focuses on promoting interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaboration in research data management (RDM) within German-speaking regions. The WG facilitates the sharing of experiences and best practices among infrastructure institutions involved in RDM and helps align efforts related to research data and RDM to support both large and small scientific communities. It organizes thematic workshops and develops training materials to enhance RDM skills among researchers and data stewards.
The Group operates through specialized Sub-Working Groups (UAGs) focusing on areas such as data management plans, training and education, and the development of RDM resources.
The Sub-Working Group on Training and Education (UAG Schulungen/Fortbildungen) concentrates on developing and enhancing various training models and materials for RDM. It builds upon resources like the FDMentor Train-the-Trainer concept and collaborates with national and international initiatives to advance RDM training. Since its inception, the UAG Schulungen/Fortbildungen has been dedicated to advancing the training and professional development of research data managers and data stewards in German-speaking regions. The group focuses on creating standardized, quality-assured, curated, and reusable training materials and concepts in accordance with Open Educational Resources (OER) standards. Additionally, the UAG offers workshops and platforms for the professional development of RDM professionals and actively communicates and collaborates with similar initiatives and individuals in the field.
