Benefits in unemployment, share of previous income measures the extent to which unemployment benefits replace previous in-work income for individuals who have lost their job.
The indicator shows the proportion of disposable household income retained after a set duration of unemployment. Calculations assume previous earnings at 67% of the average wage and vary according to family composition. Eligibility for social assistance is included where applicable, and rent subsidies are not assumed.
This indicator is expressed as a percentage of disposable household income before job loss.
