Public Investment Across Levels of Government in Colombia

On May 3 2016, the Department of National Planning of Colombia organised with the OECD a workshop in Colombia, to assess the strengths and challenges for the implementation of the OECD Principles on Effective Public Investment Across Levels of Government. This workshop, which gathered representatives from central ministries, subnational governments, the Presidency, investment banks, was organised as part of the OECD study currently being done in Colombia on the topic.

The workshop aimed to promote a specialised discussion on the preliminary findings of the implementation in Colombia of the OECD instrument on “Effective Public Investment across Levels of Government” which contains the OECD Council’s recommendation results from the international norms and standards, best practices and policy guidelines.

Accordingly, the National Planning Department (DNP) aimed to open the debate and reflection among officials and specialists around these findings with a view to identify new options and/or reinforce current courses of action to strengthen effectiveness and quality of public investment in Colombia.

The workshop is co-organised by the DNP, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) and the World Bank (WB).
