Improving Schools in Sweden: An OECD Perspective

 

 

This report proposes a comprehensive education reform for Sweden, designed to bring about system-wide change, and equity and quality in its school system. From an international perspective, it examines the challenges facing the Swedish school system, while also analysing its strengths.  The report provides a number of recommendations and policy actions, with the following three as highest priority.

  • Establish the conditions that promote quality and equity across Swedish schools
  • Build capacity for teaching and learning through a long term human resource strategy
  • Strengthen the steering of policy and accountability with a focus on improvement
