    Building upon household surveys, the KIIbIH database provides comparable indicators and harmonised data on informal employment, well-being of informal workers and their dependents. It currently covers 42 countries across North and sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean.

  • Youth Inclusion Project The EU Social Protection Systems Programme

    The EU-OECD Youth Inclusion project aims to contribute to inclusive growth by supporting partner countries in better responding to the aspirations of young people as well as strengthening youth involvement in national development. The project will shed light on the determinants of youth vulnerabilities and successful transitions, and enhance national capacities to design evidence-based policies that promote youth inclusion.

  • The EU Social Protection Systems Programme is a new initiative co-financed by the European Union, the OECD and Finland, and managed by the OECD Development Centre and the Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). The programme aims to support low and lower middle-income countries in building sustainable and inclusive social protection systems. The initiative will be implemented in 10 partner countries in close partnership with national governments, social protection authorities, think-tanks and other expert institutions from 2015 to 2018.

The OECD Development Centre’s work highlights the needs and challenges faced by the population in non-OECD countries. The aim is to contribute with evidence to the efforts of improving people’s well-being and showing that investing in people unlocks indispensable resources for progress. Social and human development has to be approached in a multidimensional way. The team follows this approach by analysing the challenges and opportunities of social cohesion, focusing on the socio-economic integration of the younger population, highlighting obstacles to gender equality, as well as evaluating tools to support a cohesive society such as social protection.
