This invitation-only roundtable will bring together representatives of governments and foundations, as well as other like-minded actors such as impact investors and businesses who share an interest in discussing how philanthropy can accelerate impact towards specific SDGs at the field level. Discussions will target innovative multi-stakeholder partnerships, including “Accelerating Impact 2030,”a new initiative led by the OECD Global Network of Foundations Working for Development (netFWD) with some of its members.

This event, co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, the OECD Development Centre and the United Nations Development Programme, will highlight the importance of translating the SDGs into national agendas through learning and scaling-up successful rural and local development initiatives. It will also discuss the use of various development co-operation modalities, including South-South and triangular co-operation, domestic resource mobilisation, community in-kind contributions – all of which complement Official Development Aid – to deliver development results at local levels and benefit communities. Moreover, this event will discuss how the New Rural Development Paradigm for the 21ST Century can guide policymakers in developing countries to reach the SDGs.

The event will bring together key stakeholders to discuss critical issues around implementation of the SDGs in Africa. It will launch the 2015 Africa MDGs Report and the 2015 African Economic Outlook Report, two reports that provide comprehensive and comparable data and analysis comprising economic, social and political trends in Africa. They capture the diversity of achievements, identify challenges at national and regional levels and share lessons to inform the implementation of the SDGs.
