The debate will take place in Spanish and French, with English translation.
Europe can help further extend international debt relief efforts to Latin America and the Caribbean. While international initiatives to address debt sustainability issues generated by the COVID-19 crisis are a step in the right direction, they do not sufficiently include middle-income countries and very rarely involve the private sector. Latin American and Caribbean countries are particularly vulnerable to these shortcomings.
This DEVTalk in collaboration with Miércoles del Grand Continent, will engage experts in a discussion on how Latin America’s international partners, specifically the European Union and the Italian G20 Presidency, can support measures to extend debt relief efforts to the region. Measures that will be instrumental to ensuring Latin America and the Caribbean has enough resources to overcome the health crisis, embark on the path of sustainable recovery and establish a new more inclusive deal for development.
