The COVID-19 crisis is generating a profound impact on the most vulnerable groups in Latin America and the Caribbean. In these circumstances, governments of several countries have adopted measures to strengthen their social safety nets, both through an expansion of existing channels and the creation of new instruments of support to reach groups that have been left unprotected in the context of the pandemic.

In the framework of the work carried out at the OECD Development Centre on the policies to boost formalisation and strengthen social protection systems, this Webinar will contribute to the discussion of these aspects and to respond to the following questions. What programs have been adopted in the region, and in particular how have the experiences of Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil and Peru been developed? What challenges have you encountered in identifying and delivering support measures to those groups most difficult to identify, such as informal workers? Going forward, what lessons can be learned from this experience and how can we move towards more robust social protection systems that help strengthen as one of the foundations of a new social contract
