Roundtable on Corporate Responsibility: Developing a proactive approach to the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises

19 June 2006, Paris, France

In conjunction with the Annual Meeting for National Contact Points , the OECD held a Corporate Responsibility Roundtable on "Developing a proactive approach to the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises" on 19 June 2006 in Paris.

The Roundtable focused on the following issues:

  • Partnerships for promoting the Guidelines and encouraging the adoption of responsible business practices;
  • Using dialogue under the Guidelines to create “win-win” situations for companies and host societies (this session will inter alia look at facilitating access to mediation and conciliation under the OECD Guidelines’ specific instance procedure).

Participants to the Roundtable included representatives of organisations with related instruments (e.g. the International Labour Organisation and the United Nations Global Compact) and experts on promotion and other aspects of Guidelines implementation (e.g. in mediation and conciliation).  The Roundtable provided an opportunity for NCPs to share views and obtain ideas from experts, the business community and other stakeholders on developing a proactive approach to the Guidelines.
