11/07/2019 - The Global Forum Secretariat is assisting Morocco in preparing for its second round of peer review aimed at assessing its compliance with the international standard of exchange of information on request (EOIR). This review, which is scheduled to be launched in the third quarter of 2020, is based on strengthened terms of reference which includes the availability of and access to beneficial ownership information. Morocco was rated largely compliant with the EOIR standard during its first round of review in 2016.
On 2 July 2019, Ms. Mathilde Sabouret and Mr. Hakim Hamadi led a seminar on beneficial ownership which was attended by more than 65 government officials and representatives of financial and legal professions. Following this seminar, they carried out a mock on-site visit from 3 to 5 July conducting a preliminary assessment to identify areas where improvements are needed and prepare stakeholders for the review process.
The technical assistance provided by the Global Forum is funded by the programme “Improving Connectivity in the Maghreb” of the Deauville Partnership's MENA Transition Fund.
