4th Meeting of the OECD Network on the Governance of State-Owned Enterprises in Southern Africa

 

Towards a Regional Consensus

18-19 November 2013 - Swakopmund, Namibia

 

Hosted under the patronage of the Right Honourable Hage Geingob, Prime Minister of the Republic of Namibia

 

The 4th meeting of the OECD Network on the Governance of SOEs in Southern Africa took place in in Swakopmund, Namibia, on 18-19 November 2013.

 

Inaugurated on behalf of the Prime Minister by a keynote address by Mr. Tjekero Tweya, Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry of the Republic of Namibia on the theme “Towards a Regional Consensus,” the meeting focused on:

 

Hosted and sponsored by the SOE Governance Council Secretariat, the Agricultural Bank of Namibia and the OECD, the meeting brought together high-level government officials, enterprises and corporate governance stakeholders from the region for an exchange of practical experiences and expertise.

 

The discussions and analysis also benefited from a number of specially-invited experts and practitioners from outside the Southern Africa region and the valuable participation of our regional partners, including the Development Bank of Southern Africa, the Africa Peer Review Mechanism and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
