The OECD Network on the Governance of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) in Southern Africa convened in Midrand, South Africa for its 3rd meeting on 8-9 October 2012.
The relaunched Network gave agreement to forge ahead on the following two work streams:
Hosted and chaired by the Development Bank of South Africa, and partnered by SADC-DFRC, APRM and NEPAD-OECD Investment Initiative, the event brought together senior government representatives from 12 SADC economies, SOEs and corporate governance stakeholders from the SADC region and neighbouring countries. The discussions also benefited from the presence of experts and practitioners from outside the Southern Africa region. The next Network meeting will take place in November 2013 and will include a thematic discussion on the enhancement of ethics, including the fight against corruption, in SOEs in the region.
