As lockdowns took hold, digital technology was subjected to its biggest test yet as working from home spiked.

Its success in allowing many businesses and jobs to continue unhindered has underlined the importance of technology in the modern economy.

The sudden switch in working patterns was especially pronounced in France, which saw remote working rates more than double, increasing by 25 percentage points to 47%. The corresponding spikes in remote working in the UK and Australia were 20 and 15 percentage points (1.8 times and 1.5 times, respectively).
