Mr. Vincenzo Calogero

Head of the Secretariat for CEI (Central European Initiative) Projects at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Based in London (at the offices of the EBRD), and in Trieste (at the offices of the CEI Secretariats), Vincenzo Calogero is the head of the “Secretariat for CEI Projects”.  Together with his "Secretariat experts", he advises CEI committees (National Coordinators, Working Groups, etc.) and EBRD teams on cooperation opportunities and procedures for investment projects, development programmes, international CEI events. He is the principal organiser and coordinator of the CEI Summit Economic Forum, the main CEI event, in November every year.  In the area of “project identification”, he has directed the development of the CEI Project Opportunity Methodology and the Internet “match-making-networking system” (CEInet).  He has organised various CEI/ EBRD technical cooperation activities, particularly for the reconstruction programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the agricultural wholesale markets programme, transport projects (roads, rail, and airports), municipal engineering, and support programmes for SMEs.

Previous experience

Before joining the CEI/ EBRD, he was an international consultant, and a university senior research fellow and lecturer, in the areas of information technology, engineering, transport planning, operations research, project management: University College,  London, the UK Ministry of Transport, London, the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Jamaica, the Ministry of Tourism, the Planning Institute of Jamaica, Italconsult SpA, Bonifica SpA,  Sotecni SpA, Rome, the Ministry of Coordination/ World Bank, Athens, the Portuguese National Transport Study/Commission of the European Communities, Brussels,  Italian Scientific Research Council,  Rome, the Ministry of Transport/ Dar Al Handasah/ World Bank,  Algeria, the Ministry of Transport/ Foster Wheeler Italiana SpA/ Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,  Zimbabwe.
Education: University of Naples, Italy: Doctor in Engineering (Dott.Ing.) and University College, London, England: Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science.
