Secretary-General at the International Summit on the Teaching Profession (The Netherlands, 13th - 14th March 2013)


The Secretary-General, Mr. Angel Gurría, will visit The Netherlands on 13th and 14th of March 2013, to give a speech at the 2013 International Summit on the Teaching Profession, organised by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, in close co-operation with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and Education International (EI).

Ministers and Secretaries of State of Education and leaders of the teaching unions from 25 of the best performing countries and 5 of the fastest risers, as specified by the PISA study of 2009, are expected to attend the summit, focused around the theme of teacher quality, including the issues of professional standards and teacher appraisal.

On the occasion of his trip to the Netherlands, Mr. Gurría will also go to The Hague and hold a bilateral meeting with Mr. Jeroen Dijsselbloem, Finance Minister.
