Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, delivered Opening remarks at the high-level roundtable of the new OECD Centre on Well-being, Inclusion, Sustainability and Equal Opportunity (WISE), on 25 November 2020. The agenda of the event focused on “putting people’s well-being at the top of the agenda: ensuring that recovery and reconstruction strategies put people first”. The Secretary-General was joined by several ministers from OECD countries and other high-level authorities. Mr. Gurría’s speech addressed the importance of putting people at the centre of policy-making, especially in the response to the COVID-19 crisis, and how the OECD has been doing so, including through the creation of WISE.
