Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, delivered remarks at the high-level meeting of Heads of State and Government on the International Debt Architecture and Liquidity, on 29 March 2021.

The event took place at the invitation of António Guterres, Secretary-General, United Nations, Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada and Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica.

Speaking alongside the Heads of the IMF, World Bank and World Trade Organization, the Secretary-General stressed the need for additional action to address the debt and liquidity needs of developing countries in the context of the COVID-19 crisis and highlighted contributions that the OECD could make, notably via a new Debt Transparency Initiative.
