Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, delivered opening remarks in the Friends of Gender Equality Plus event, on 8 March 2021.

The event was an official kick off for the OECD’s March on Gender, with its title Empowering the Recovery through Women’s Leadership. This special session on the International Women’s Day focused on legislative measures and affirmative action to close the gender gaps. The Secretary-General’s speech outlined the progress made both in the private and public sectors on narrowing the gender gap in terms of leadership and pay as a result of the legal measures and affirmative action put in place.

Following the Secretary-General’s opening remarks, Minister Élisabeth Moreno presented the French Gender Equality Index (video message). This was followed by an interview with Ambassador Muriel Pénicaud to elaborate on the French initiative.
