Transcript of video message by Angel Gurría,
Secretary-General, OECD

Paris, 11-13 November 2020

I am delighted to join the 3rd Edition of the Paris Peace Forum.

We are in the midst of an unprecedented global public health, economic and social crisis. Years of development progress are at risk of being erased. The urgency of climate change continues, and as we enter the Decade of Action, many nations are falling behind on their SDG targets.
In our complex, interconnected and fragile world, multilateralism is more needed than ever. .. :
First, we need global rules on vaccines and their procurement to ensure equitable access, affordability and supply for all countries.
Second, we must focus on rebuilding our economies and societies in a more inclusive and environmentally sustainable manner – to empower the vulnerable and women.
Third, we need stronger international co-operation to help countries rebuild their public finances, including through the G20.
The OECD’s evidence-based analysis continues facilitating co-ordinated policy responses across countries. We must all play our part to Build Back Better!
