Gurría condemns deadly attack on Charlie Hebdo magazine and sends condolences to President Hollande


07/01/2015 - Secretary-General Angel Gurría has sent a letter to President François Hollande expressing his condolences and those of all OECD staff following the attack that took place at the headquarters of French magazine Charlie Hebdo, in Paris.

"This attack is an affront to the values that we collectively share. We categorically condemn this odious and inhuman act against our liberties and we support the government in its response to it." said Gurría. In his letter, the OECD Secretary-General underlined that today the OECD is closer than ever to France in its defence of freedom and democracy.


The Secretary-General brought forward his return to France to join President Hollande and other leaders in the Unity March against terrorism on Sunday 11 January at 3pm.
