Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, in Washington from 6 to 8 October 2016

 

Mr. Angel Gurría, OECD Secretary-General, was in Washington from 6-8 October to attend the 2016 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group, where he will presented written statements to the International Monetary Fund Committee and Development Committee, and the meeting of G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, where he delivered remarks on the global economy and on international co-operation on tax matters.

 

While in Washington, Mr. Gurría delivered a keynote speech on the “The Integration of Migrants and Refugees: Challenges and Opportunities” at Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service. He also participated in the launch of the Model G20 Program at American University’s School of International Service.

 

The Secretary-General addressed the 2016 Bretton Woods Committee International Council Meeting and participated in a joint event with the Millennium Challenge Corporation on catalysing private investment opportunities in Côte d’Ivoire.

 

During his visit, the Secretary-General also held several bilateral meetings with high-level officials and business sector representatives.
