Mr. Nicholas BRIDGE

Ambassador Nicholas Bridge took up his duties as Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the OECD on 16 November 2011.
Mr. Bridge has served as Chief Economist at the UK Foreign Office, and spent over a decade in diplomatic postings to the US, China and Japan. Most recently he was Counsellor for Global Issues in Washington DC covering issues such as business, trade, investment, energy, environment, science and innovation. His role as Head of Global Economy Department in the Foreign Office included responsibility for OECD and UN economic issues.
During the 2005 UK Presidency of the G8 and EU, Mr. Bridge worked at the UK Treasury and helped launch a $4 billion facility to immunise half a billion people in the world’s poorest countries.
He has also been an English teacher in Shimane, Japan, and an economist at the UK Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
Mr. Bridge was born in 1972 in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. He attended Scalby Comprehensive School and Scarborough Sixth Form College in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, and graduated in economics from the University of Nottingham.
