Trade is essential to global economic recovery and protectionism would be harmful, says Professor Jagdish Bhagwati of Columbia University in this interview with OECD.
Professor Bhagwati also challenges the fear that trade 'takes' jobs from developed countries, pointing out that firms from developing countries are now creating jobs in richer economies. He also explains that the manufacturing sector is in decline worldwide while the services sector is now growing.
