Mr Raed Safadi is curently Deputy-Director of the Trade and Agriculture Directorate at the OECD.
Mr. Safadi provides co-leadership to the work of the Directorate, ensuring the delivery of rigorous and timely economic analysis and policy advice in the areas of trade, agriculture and fisheries.
Mr. Safadi, a United States national, joined the OECD in 1993 to work as an economist in the former Trade Directorate, and in 2001 was appointed Head of the Development Division. Following the creation of the Trade and Agriculture Directorate in late 2006, Mr. Safadi provided intellectual leadership on trade and agriculture in development research and policy, capacity building, resource mobilisation and maintaining relations with other international organisations and research networks. He was recently seconded to the Government of Dubai as Chief Economist, Chair of the Economic Policy Committee of Dubai, and Adjunct Professor of Development Economics at the Dubai School of Government.
Mr. Safadi holds a PhD in Economics from Georgetown University. He has published over fifty articles and several books in areas such as economic development, economic integration, emerging economies, international trade, services trade, trade and environment, and the international trading system.
