More information about the 2011 Global Forum on Trade

Global Forum on Trade conferences are organised annually under the auspices of the OECD’s Trade Committee in support of its objective to “improve understanding of the benefits and costs of further trade liberalisation, so as to increase support for an open, rules-based multilateral trading system.” The 2011 GFT in Paris will provide a platform for presentation of cutting-edge, policy-related research as a basis for dialogue among stakeholders, including senior representatives from partner organisations in the ICITE consortium, national representatives, social partners, and other experts. A series of OECD ICITE Trade Policy Working Papers will be released along with a policy brief presenting highlights to-date from the ICITE research agenda and policy dialogue events. The conference outcomes will then feed into an OECD ICITE synthesis publication to be available by May 2012.

During the course of the ICITE project, the related themes of trade, jobs and inclusive growth  have emerged as priority concerns for both developing and developed countries. This conference will aim to take stock of what is known from the empirical research and policy experience, taking account of the various contexts, with a view to highlighting a positive agenda going forward.
