The scope of the School is to organise specialised courses on socio-economic development and to create an international platform to exchange experiences and knowledge between public officers and practitioners from OECD member and non member countries that deals with cooperation and local development issues. The third edition of the Summer School on “Community and local development: building strategies for local development" will take place from 17 to 27 July 2012 in Trento. Deadline for applications: 30 April 2012. Working language: Spanish.

This seminar is part of a three-year programme of cooperation between the European Commission and the OECD LEED Programme to monitor and report on entrepreneurial activity in Europe and related public policies and actions. This seminar will provide an opportunity for policy-makers to discuss policy options, objectives, design and results for programmes that support access to business start-up financing by under-represented groups.

In the framework of the 7th Festival of Economics on "Life cycles and intergenerational transfers", the OECD LEED Trento Centre, in cooperation with the School on Local Development of the University of Trento, will organise a round-table session on "Divided we stand: Why inequality keeps rising", which will take place at the OECD Trento Centre (Vicolo S. Marco, 1) on Friday 1 June at 11.00 a.m.. Sergio Arzeni, Director of the CFE Directorate and Barbara Ischinger, Director of the OECD Directorate for Education will contribute to the discussion.
