Tourism, an important economic activity, is an area of public policy in most OECD countries. The Tourism Committee acts as a forum for exchange, for monitoring policies and structural changes affecting the development of international tourism, and promoting the sustainable economic growth of tourism. The mandate of the Tourism Committee highlights the main missions of the OECD in the field of tourism.

The OECD Tourism Committee together with Statistics Iceland, the Icelandic Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, and the Statistical Office of the European Union (EUROSTAT) are pleased to announce that the 11th Global Forum on Tourism Statistics will be held on 14-16 November 2012 in Reykjavík, Iceland (participation by invitation only). We take this opportunity to encourage you to widely disseminate the information on the Forum to representatives of the tourism industry, academics, and tourism experts.
