Safety of Manufactured Nanomaterials

Nanotechnologies are likely to offer a wide range of economic benefits. However, unlocking this potential will require a responsible and co-coordinated approach to ensure that potential safety issues are being addressed at the same time as the technology is developing. As a part of the Chemical Programme, this programme focuses on the implications of the use of nanomaterials for human health and environment safety, focussing on testing and assessment methods. "Preliminary Analysis of Exposure Measurement and Exposure Mitigation in Occupational Settings: Manufactured Nanomaterials" is the eigth publication in the Series on the Safety of Manufactured Nanomaterials.  This report provides preliminary analyses and recommendations as well as brief summaries of background documents listed in the operational plan relevant to phase 1 of the project on exposure measurement and exposure mitigation.

OECD Database on Research into the Safety of Manufactured Nanomaterials Public Launch on 1st April 2009

31-Mar-2009

As part of the OECD activities to promote international co-operation in addressing human health and environmental safety aspects of manufactured nanomaterials, the OECD has developed a global resource which details research projects that address safety issues of manufactured nanomaterials. This database holds details of completed, current and planned research projects on safety, which are to be updated and managed electronically by delegations to the OECD Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials. It builds on the work of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.
