OECD Tokyo Centre is looking for Media Assistant who will work on a contract basis with the team based in Tokyo. OECD Tokyo Centre serves as a regional contact for the full range of OECD activities, from media enquiries to liaison with governments, parliaments, academia, and the private sector. The main focus of the position will be to assist with media and public affairs functions of the Centre.

Contractor will do a compilation of several tasks outlined below:

  • Clipping of newspapers, checking media coverage, and reporting the result to Media team at the headquarters
  • Assist in Centre's events preparation including registration, preparing handouts, making attendees list
  • Maintenance of press copy stock
  • Supporting website editing
  • Managing and promoting Centre’s social media accounts and compiling the activity reports of them
  • Assist in liaising with stakeholders including media and government officials
  • Retrieve data/figures/contacts upon Centre staff’s request
  • Handle incoming calls and inquiries via emails
  • Assist with miscellaneous tasks and projects at OECD Tokyo Centre

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in the field of study related to the OECD’s activities is required. An advanced degree is an asset.
  • At least consecutive two years of full-time work experience, preferably in an international environment, is necessary.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills both in English and Japanese are essential.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is a must.
  • Sound knowledge and skills of social media is appreciated.

Candidates should be well organised, and meticulous in terms of keeping track of details and have an ability to carry out his/her work under minimum supervision. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must. Good knowledge of graphics and the experience of working with image editor will be significant advantages. A positive approach with an ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment, and in a team, using initiative, tact and discretion are all qualities we are looking for.

 Working Conditions

  • Duration of the assignment: 2 months of fixed term appointment, with a possibility of renewal
  • Date of commencement: 1st November, 2018
  • Remuneration is commensurate with the contractor’s experience and in accordance with Organisation’s procurement guideline.
  • Normal hours of work in office are from 9:30 a.m. to 18:30 p.m. (8 hours) including 60 minutes recess. You will be entitled to take all national holidays in Japan and you are not required to work on Saturdays and Sundays, with the exception of situations to be decided by Centre Head where additional work is necessary.
  • Hours worked for the requirements of the service in excess of the working hours shall be compensated by equivalent number of hours leave which is calculated based on Organisation’s overtime rules.
  • Upon commencement you shall be entitled to 2 and a half days of leave per month.
  • Other matters shall be subjected to Organisation's relating rules and guidance.
