2014/06/16 updated

OECD Tokyo Centre plays a crucial role in the 50th anniversary events, collaborating with the government of Japan. The Policy experts and executives from the OECD, government officials from around the world, and senior executives from corporate sector participate in the events. Topics include economy, finance, energy, and education to name a few. The Public Affairs and Media team in Tokyo and Paris play a key role in organising the OECD Forum, an annual public stakeholder conference which welcomes some 1,500 participants. The Forum takes place alongside the main annual OECD Ministerial Meeting, and provides the possibility for all stakeholders to discuss the key issues on the agenda with Ministers and each other.

The OECD Public Affairs and Communications Department (PAC), located at OECD Headquarters in Paris, and OECD Tokyo Centre are looking for interns to join the teams for a 4-6 month Internship. The main focus of the internship will be to help organise a series of events which take place over the entire year in 2014 related to the 50th anniversary of Japan’s accession to the OECD, as well as events during the Annual OECD Week which takes place in Paris from 5-7 May 2014.

Interns will be involved in a wide range of assignments related to initiatives by PAC and OECD Tokyo Centre. The main focus will be to help with general preparations for the 50th anniversary events in Japan and the OECD Forum. Tasks include: helping with numerous logistical aspects of events; assisting communication with key stakeholders and general public; drafting information documents; and managing web site and social media.

Candidates should be well organised, and meticulous in terms of keeping track of details. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must. A positive approach with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment, and in a team, using initiative, tact and discretion are all qualities we are looking for.

Interns will also need to have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Japanese. French language skills would be an advantage. Database management, skills in using social media would also be an asset.

Candidates must be enrolled in a school or university and have a student status for the duration of the internship. A strong interest to pursue a career in an international organisation such as OECD in the future and to improve economic and social well-being of people around the world is appreciated.
