Supplementary Peer Review Report Summary: Mauritius

 

The second supplementary report assesses the improvements made by Mauritius in its legal framework and practical mechanisms since the adoption of the first supplementary report in September 2011. It has notably addressed several recommendations on its EOI practices. Mauritius has also introduced new legal provisions with regard to ownership and identity information in cases of nominee ownership and trusts, as well as underlying documentation in respect of accounts that must be kept for trusts. Mauritius has introduced the Foundations Act that came into operation in July 2012 and the report recommends that Mauritius monitor these new legal provisions. Mauritius’ overall rating remains Largely Compliant. Mauritius should report steps taken to address the recommendations made in the report within one year.
