India plays key role in taking forward the G20’s pledge to ensure greater tax transparency

India hosted the second meeting of the Steering Group of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information on 11 – 12 February in New Delhi.The Steering Group, which guides the work of the Global Forum, considered the core documents required to launch the peer review process. It also examined the progress of the Global Forum in moving forward on the mandate given to it by the G20 in November 2009.

Ninety representatives from 24 partner countries and 9 international organizations participated in the International Tax Compact (ITC) workshop "Joining Forces to Mobilize Domestic Revenues for Development" from 25-26 January 2010 in Brussels.

A progress report on OECD work on tax havens

Since the April 2009 G20 London Summit, almost 300 tax agreements have been signed to meet OECD standards on tax transparency and effective exchange of information. All OECD and G20 countries are committed to these standards.
