OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook - 2006-2015

HighlightsTable of ContentsHow to OrderMultilingual Summaries

This is the second occasion that the Agricultural Outlook has been prepared jointly by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO). The report benefits from the commodity, policy and country expertise of both organisations. This annual report analyses world commodity market trends and medium term prospects for the main agricultural products. It shows how these markets are influenced by economic developments and government policies and highlights some of the risks and uncertainties that may influence market outcomes. In addition to OECD countries, the market projections in the report cover a large number of other countries and regions including the agricultural giants of India, China, Brazil and Russia as well as Argentina, South Africa and several least developed countries.

This chapter contains a one page Outlook in Brief section, providing the most salient points in this year's Agricultural Outlook. This is followed by a longer Overview section where the reader will find a detailed description of the main macroeconomic and policy drivers in the outlook as well as a summary of the main trends and developments over the medium term. A short section on demographic trends provides additional context for the outlook assessment. Tables at the end of the section provide a summary of the projections.

Chapter 2 - Cereals
Chapter 3 - Oilseeds and Oilseed Products

Chapter 5 - Meat
Chapter 6 - Dairy

These chapters provide detailed background and analysis for the individual commodities. The chapters all have the same basic structure. A short overview is first provided of global trends and prospects, including a review of the key market drivers. This is followed by a section on the main market developments and by a discussion of the most important issues and uncertainties in the outlook for the various commodities. The most prominent trends are highlighted in graphs, developments of particular significance receive more detailed discussion in separate boxes, and the statistical annex provides a full account of the projections.
