Agricultural Policy Monitoring and Evaluation 2013
OECD Countries and Emerging Economies

Government support for agriculture in the world’s leading agricultural nations rose during 2012, bucking a long-term downward trend and reversing historic lows recorded in 2011, according to the latest version of the annual Agricultural Policy Monitoring and Evaluation report. This edition contains country and commodity indicators, and covers OECD countries, as well as Brazil, China, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Russia, South Africa and Ukraine. In-depth studies have also recently been issued for Indonesia and Kazakhstan.

The OECD Handbook for Fisheries Managers
Principles and Practice for Policy Design

Drawing upon a decade of OECD work, this handbook describes the challenges facing fisheries and points out practical solutions. It shows how market-based approaches, clear objectives and rigorous policy design processes can lead to more profits for fishers and better sustainability for our shared ocean resources. This handbook will be of use to policy professionals, civil society groups and anybody who is concerned about fishing and the health of our oceans.

Livestock Disease Policies: Building Bridges Between Science and Economics

Contagious livestock diseases can cause major harm to human and animal health, to firms, and to consumers and taxpayers. Governments are increasingly acting to prevent and control livestock diseases, while international organisations develop codes, guidelines and programmes to enhance international co-operation and efficient management of diseases. These proceedings of an OECD-OIE conference that took place in June 2013 examine how economics and animal sciences can contribute to managing livestock disease risks in an efficient and comprehensive manner.

Policy Instruments to Support Green Growth in Agriculture

Although many OECD countries have in place policies that relate to the concept of green growth, the degree of ambition shows considerable variation with a wide range of instruments and a variety of “policy mixes” currently applied. This report examines the overall approach countries are taking towards establishing a green growth strategy in agriculture, the implementation of the OECD framework to monitor progress of this strategy, and the various policy instruments used.

The Impact of Regional Trade Agreements on Trade in Agricultural Products

The Impact of Regional Trade Agreements on Chilean Fruit Exports

This report analyses the impact of Chile’s free trade agreements (FTAs) on fresh fruit exports. It finds that FTAs have been important instruments in providing increased international market access for Chilean products.

How Export Restrictive Measures Affect Trade of Agricultural Commodities

Information on export restrictive measures was collected from 16 countries for the period 2007 to 2011 or 2012 and their effect on exports is examined in this report.

Design and Implementation of Food-Import Related Regulations

This report looks at procedures and processes related to non-tariff measures in agricultural trade. Three RTAs are compared with the WTO SPS and TBT Agreement and then analysed as to how the design and implementation of regulations differ among them.
