OECD-ASEAN Regional Conference on Agricultural Policies to Promote Food Security and Agro-Forestry Productivity will take place in the context of agreement between the OECD and ASEAN for deeper OECD-ASEAN engagement on agriculture. The participation from policy makers in both ASEAN and OECD countries will provide an opportunity to exchange policy experiences between OECD and ASEAN countries, with a special focus on domestic and regional agricultural policy responses targeted at enhancing food security, sustainable productivity growth and agricultural trade. This conference gives effect to the proposed ongoing engagement between the OECD and ASEAN as outlined in the 36th SOM-AMAF and 35th AFSRB meetings. This engagement will focus on developing regionally integrated agricultural policies that enhance food security and food safety, along with exploring issues related to the trade of agricultural and forest products between ASEAN and OECD members.
The theme of this conference is on agricultural policies used to promote food security and enhance sustainable productivity growth. Issues relating to developing regional integrated policy solutions will be explored. The conference will also explore issues related to trade in agricultural and forest products.
The conference will explore a number of relevant issues that are the focus of the OECD’s ASEAN wide project on “Building Food Security and Managing Risk: A Focus on Southeast Asia”. This project represents a first step in OECD-ASEAN engagement. ASEAN engagement in this project is facilitated through the ASEAN Secretariat. The project will seek to:
The Government of Korea will host the conference in Seoul on 12-13 October 2015. The conference, which is supported financially by the Australian Government, will last one and a half days. Following the conference, participants will be invited to attend a half day field trip.
The conference will take place on 12-13 October 2015 at the Ramada Hotel Seoul, Seoul, Korea. Please note that participation is by invitation only.
