Negotiating on Trade Facilitation: Implications for Developing Countries

The Global Forum on Trade met in Bangkok, Thailand during 3-4 November 2004 to examine the topic of “Trade and Structural Adjustment,” with special emphasis on the challenges faced by the motor vehicles and textile/apparel sectors. Convened by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and with the support of the Government of Thailand and the World Bank, the conference met at the United Nations Conference Center.
Participants represented 28 economies on six continents, as well as the European Commission and a dozen international organisations, nongovernmental organisations, and private firms, in a meeting that brought together a diverse group of experts from the fields of government, business, and academia.
