  • Alternative Policies to Buffer Stocks for Food Security

    This paper identifies alternative policies to buffer stockholding. It first positions buffer stocks within the range of policies aimed at price stabilisation and food security, and then examines the most direct alternative to public food stocks for price stabilisation, namely private stockholding. It explores the experience with private stockholding to assess its effectiveness in achieving price stabilisation objectives and the necessary conditions for implementation.

O‌ECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2017-2026

This annual report covers OECD countries, major economies such as India, the People's Republic of China, the Russian Federation, Brazil and Argentina, and developing regions in Africa and Asia. It is complemented by an online database that includes historical data back to 1970, where available, and projections for the forthcoming decade.‌‌ This year's edition features a special chapter on Southeast Asia.

Long-term Scenarios for Agriculture and Food
The future of the agriculture and food system is subject to considerable concerns. Increasing agricultural demand, fuelled by growing and increasingly urbanized population, rising incomes and substantial demands for feedstock commodities for energy and other non-food uses. OECD work focuses on the dialogue across governments and with other stakeholders, experts and modelers. and brings together aspects from a variety of economic, biophysical, social and political issues, thus allowing for a multi-disciplinary approach necessary for an informed debate.

Agricultural Market Information System (AMIS)
OECD is contributing actively to the Agricultural Market Information System (AMIS) called for by G20 agriculture ministers with the aim of addressing food price volatility through more timely, accurate and transparent information on global food markets. AMIS issues monthly reports on global markets that are freely accessible to analysts and the public.
