Mr. Anders AHNLID
Mr. Ahnlid was born in Vetlanda, Sweden, on 6 July 1960. He graduated in 1984 with a degree in Political Science and Economics from the University of Lund. From 1984 to 1985, he undertook graduate studies in International Political Economy at the University of California, Los Angeles.
From 1986 to 1987, Mr. Ahnlid was a Trade Policy Analyst at the National Board of Trade in Stockholm. In 1987, he joined the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he served as First Secretary in the Trade Department. Then, in 1991, Mr. Ahnlid was posted to the Permanent Delegation of Sweden to the GATT/WTO in Geneva (Switzerland). In 1995, he was promoted to the rank of Counsellor and appointed Deputy Permanent Representative of Sweden to the OECD. Then, in 1998, he returned to Sweden, where he became Director (Deputy Head of Department) of the Department for International Trade Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2000, he was subsequently appointed Deputy Director-General (Head of Department) of the Department for International Trade Policy. From 2004 to 2005, Mr. Ahnlid was Minister for Trade and Economic Affairs at the Embassy of Sweden in Washington D.C.
From 2005 until his nomination as Permanent Representative of Sweden to the OECD he was Director-General for Trade at the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Anders Ahnlid took up his duties as Permanent Representative of Sweden to the OECD on 2 September 2011.
