Urban freight transport is a significant source of pollution, noise and congestion. New technologies, including advanced communication and information systems, are being introduced to facilitate the more efficient distribution of goods in urban areas. Local policies are the key to maximising the benefits of new technologies and urban developments. An examination of best practices would help to ensure urban areas remain a comfortable living environment, while also contributing to increased efficiency in urban freight distribution.
