OECD Workshop on Transforming Innovation to Address Social Challenges

While the contribution of innovation to economic growth is well established, there is growing awareness that innovation can be used to address social challenges from urban poverty, education, to environmental sustainability that have resisted conventional market and government approaches to solving them.  This workshop, sponsored by Japan, Germany, the Netherlands and Norway under the auspices of the OECD Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy (CSTP) follows on a first workshop held at the OECD in May this year, to examine ways to integrate the social dimension in mainstream research and innovation policies and to identify good practices to foster greater involvement from societal stakeholders.

This Workshop was held on 9-10 November 2009 at the OECD Headquarters in Paris, see agenda and presentations.
