Workshop on Trademarks and Trademark Data

This workshop is intended to bring together researchers interested in empirical and theoretical research on trademarks and brands, as well as in legal analysis of trademarks. Among the topics to be discussed are the value of trademark protection, the use of trademarks as indicator of innovation, the strategic effects of trademark use and brand building, and the normative goals of trademark law.

Attributing a patent to the individual entity which own them is a key step in many statistical and analytical work using patents. The purpose of the workshop was to exchange experiences on the harmonisation of applicants’ names in patent data and to promote convergence and co-ordination to make datasets compatible across countries and endeavours.
