The biosciences add value to a host of products and services, producing what some have labelled the "bioeconomy." The OECD International Futures Programme bioeconomy project assessed the pervasiveness of biotechnological applications, prospects for future development, potential impacts on the economy and society and potential policy solutions to promote and diffuse these innovations in a way that is consistent with broader policy goals.
