OECD annual inflation rate slows to 2.1% in May 2012

03/07/2012 - Annual inflation in the OECD area slowed to 2.1% in the year to May 2012, compared with 2.5% in the year to April 2012 – the lowest rate since January 2011. This slowdown in the annual rate of inflation mainly reflected developments in energy prices (where inflation slowed to 2.0% in May, compared with 4.8% in April) and food prices (2.6%, compared with 3.1%). Excluding food and energy, the OECD annual inflation rate slowed to 1.9% in May, compared with 2.0% in April.
