OECD annual inflation rate eases slightly to 2.0% in June 2012

31/07/2012 - Annual inflation in the OECD area rose by 2.0% in the year to June 2012, down from 2.1% in the year to May 2012. This easing in the annual rate of inflation masked opposing movements in energy and food prices. Energy price inflation slowed significantly to 1.4% in June, its lowest rate since October 2009, compared to 2.0% in May. But food prices rose by 2.8% in June, up from 2.6% in May, following five straight months of slowing inflation. Excluding food and energy, the OECD annual inflation rate was 1.8% in June.
