The OECD has released an updated data visualisation tool for its online statistical database (OECD.Stat).
The new tool, furnished by Sweden's NComVA, will make it easier for users to turn OECD statistics into animated data visualisations.
Any data selected from the 700+ datasets in OECD.Stat can now be used to create a range of animated graphics, including maps, bubble charts, line charts and histograms. Visualisations can be customised and shared among groups, allowing wide-ranging storytelling based on the latest available data.
Journalists are invited to use the new data visualisation tool to create interactive graphics for publication in electronic and print media.
The graphical components are part of the eXplorer visualisation suite developed by NComVA. The use of the graphics has been enabled by the recent co-operation agreement between the OECD and NComVA. This follows several years of successful collaboration, and allows the eXplorer graphic components to be distributed to other organisations using the OECD.stat software platform.
Further information on the data visualisation tool is available from Trevor Fletcher, of the OECD's Statistics Directorate, (trevor.fletcher@oecd.org, +33 1 45 24 16 44).
