Back to OECD / Eurostat guidelines on revisions policy and analysis
To help both producers and users of official statistics better understand the revisions process, it is helpful to have a framework for classifying revisions to their causes and understanding the possible timing of different causes for revisions for different economic statistics. This document provides such as framework as developed by the task-force, which aims to serve the following purposes:
• To serve as a comprehensive reference for understanding the revision process
• To provide guidance to developing decomposition systems on how the impacts of different reasons for revisions might be quantified.
• To classify causes of revisions into meaningful aggregate or homogeneous groups which if quantified would provide useful information to users.
The concepts presented in this document relate closely to the Framework of revisions policy for key economic indicators also developed by the task-force.
