Caroline Lambert, a French national, is the correspondent of The Economist in Southern Africa, after being Deputy Asia Editor and Foreign Correspondent in the UK. Previously she was a Senior Writer on Global Issues and Africa for ECountries, an Internet media and e-commerce company in the U.K., and Associate Director of Business Development GE Capital Europe U.K. She has also worked as Guarantee Officer for Middle East and Africa at the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) of the World Bank Group in the U.S. and as Operations Analyst for Middle East and North Africa at the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD). Mrs Lambert holds an MBA from INSEAD, and an M.A. in International Relations from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University. She obtained the Grove Haines Award for best research paper for her "Case Study on Democratic Transition in Germany: the 1945 Municipal Elections in Berlin".
