M. Murat BAŞESGİOĞLU
Minister of Labour & Social Security

Murat BAŞESGİOĞLU was born in Kastamonu in 1955. He was graduated from the Faculty of Law of İstanbul University after completing his secondary and high school education in Kastamonu.
 
He worked as a lawyer as the member of the Bar of Lawyers of Kastamonu for seven years. He completed his military service at the town of Daday as the head of the local military recruitment directorate.
 
In 1984, he started his political life in the Motherland Party (Anavatan). He was elected as Kastamonu deputy for the 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st Parliamentary terms.
 
He served in the Cabinet of the 55th government as the Minister of Internal Affairs.

In the last Parliamentary elections, he was elected as deputy of Istanbul from the Justice and Development Party (AK Party).

Murat BAŞESGİOĞLU is currently the Minister of Labour and Social Security. He was appointed to this post on 19 November 2002.
