Born on January 20, 1915 in Amsterdam. Education Master's degree in law, University of Amsterdam, 1937 National Functions 1940-45: Foreign Exchange Institute, The Hague - Amsterdam 1945-48: Netherlands Central Bank, Amsterdam 1948-50: Financial Counsellor of the High Representative of the Crown in Indonesia 1950-51: Netherlands Central Bank 1951-69: - Treasurer-General in the Netherlands, Ministry of Finance. As such, he was responsible for the formation of economic policy, in particular of financial, budgetary and monetary policy; also in this capacity, he attended the annual meetings of the IMF, the IBRD and IDA. - Governmental Delegate to the Organisation for Applied Scientific Research in the Netherlands (TNO) International functions inter alia: - Chairman of the Monetary Committee, European Communities - Netherlands' Delegate to the high level meetings of the Development Assistance Committee - Vice-Chairman, Economic POlicy Committee, OECD - Chairman, Working Party No. 3, OECD
