Stef van Weeghel is a partner in the Amsterdam office of Linklaters LLP and is a specialist in domestic and international tax, particularly the tax aspects of international capital markets transactions, mergers & acquisitions and structured finance. Stef also provides consultancy on international tax matters, such as the application of tax treaties and international reorganisations and regularly represents clients in tax controversy work, including litigation.

 

Matters of significance where substantial involvement can be disclosed have included:

 

• Advising Euronext N.V. on its creation through the amalgamation of the Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris
  stock exchanges, on its IPO and on its recent merger with the New York Stock Exchange
• Advising the Dutch State on its taxing rights in connection with the Air France -KLM merger
  (resulting in a Protocol to the Franco-Dutch income tax treaty)
• Advising on numerous structured finance transactions
• Advising and providing second opinions to major banks and other multinational groups and
  to accountancy and other law firms
• Advising Celtel International B.V. on its planned IPO and subsequent sale to MTC
• Advising TomTom Holding N.V. on its IPO
• Acting as expert witness in various litigious matters
